SPJ offers 6-month dues waiver to out-of-work members

hands together

SPJ members undergoing financial hardships may apply for a six-month waiver of their membership dues. Details on eligibility and how to apply are on the national SPJ website, but here are the basics:

According to SPJ, only current SPJ members will be considered for the waiver. You must have recently received a membership renewal notice but haven’t renewed due to financial hardship, as well as either:
– You were laid off from your media-industry full-time job and have yet to secure full-time work, or
– You are a freelancer who recently lost more than 30 percent of your freelance income.

Members granted a waiver will receive a digital copy of Quill magazine only during their six-month extension. In exchange for receiving the waiver, SPJ asks that you volunteer five hours of your time to the Society in such areas as working at a chapter event, judging a contest or other form of involvement. Contact the Valley of the Sun (Phoenix) chapter at spjphx@gmail.com to arrange to volunteer.
