SPJ reacted with alarm to a U.S. Agency for Global Media proposal to replace Voice of America news feeds from its own journalists and other globally respected news outlets with One America News.
In a May 8 statement, the Society said it viewed the move by USAGM Special Assistant Kari Lake “as not only a violation of the VOA charter and governing legislation, but also an affront to the hard-working journalists Lake has banned from the VOA newsrooms.”
Two VOA editors are among three plaintiffs in one of many lawsuits seeking to reopen USAGM and its news outlets, including VOA, SPJ said.
