The Society of Professional Journalists is strongly opposing the decision to shut down Voice of America and the other news organizations under the United States Agency for Global Media.
In a March 17 statement, the Society called on Congress “to exercise its constitutional powers to prevent the subversion of a news organization that has exemplified the best of American values – freedom of press and freedom of speech.”
