Getting Access: Public Records, Open Meetings and Good Journalism, Saturday, Oct. 14

On Saturday, Oct. 14, your SPJ Valley of the Sun pro and ASU campus chapters partner with the Arizona Latino Media Association to host a free half-day workshop on Arizona’s Public Records Law and the federal Freedom of Information Act. It will assist all media, whether you’re experienced or have yet to file your first public records request.

Find out how to get better access to public records and open meetings and know what you can and can’t do with cameras, cell phones, tablets and other electronic devices in courtrooms and government halls. It’s 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Concho Room at the former Westward Ho hotel, 618 N. Central Ave. (at Fillmore), Phoenix.

Light rail stops are at Van Buren Street and Central/First Avenues two blocks south. Enter the Westward Ho through the glass door on the east side of the hotel facing Central Avenue.
