This year’s Summer Solstice Soiree thank-you party for members and all Valley journalists and communicators — 5 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, at State 48 Brewery in downtown Phoenix — will have a bit of a twist:

We’re calling it “Beer for Bylines.” Here’s how it works: Bring in a recent byline (from June 1 forward) and tell the gathering the story of how you got the story — and the chapter will buy you a beer (or non-alcoholic beverage).

So, earn a frosty reward for doing what you’ll probably do anyway — just do it with colleagues and competitors at “Beer for Bylines!” State 48 Brewery is at 345 W. Van Buren St., Phoenix.

We’ll also take five minutes sometime during the evening to hold our annual chapter officer elections.

(By the way, we’ve checked the potential traffic report. The Diamondbacks are on a road trip that night, and the Mercury, while at home, play a 12:30 p.m. game that will be well over by 5 p.m.)
