Arizona Republic Hiring Northeast Phoenix Reporter

The Arizona Republic, the state’s largest media organization, is looking for a Northeast Phoenix reporter to join our Phoenix team and cover this high-profile geographic area with a focus on government accountability, economic development and community living. The reporter also would cover the Paradise Valley school district and serve as a watchdog over several city departments, including parks and recreation, police and fire and aviation. He or she will be an integral part of a team that regularly produces Page one, metro cover and Phoenix community Republics, breaks news online, contributes to the PhxBeat blog and other social media and partners with 12 News.

Responsibilities include:

  • Daily and Sunday enterprise stories for both metro and the Community papers and web sites.
  • Watchdog stories on city government and school administration.
  • Analysis and trend stories specific to the beat.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated excellent beat management, proven initiative and a strong record of watchdog journalism, performing well on deadline and working well in a team environment. He or she must have the ability to report and tell stories well.
