Teri Carnicelli, President
Teri Carnicelli is editor of the North Central News, a monthly community newspaper. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor’s in journalism from Humboldt State University in Arcata, Calif. She moved to the Valley in January 1994, and has worked in Arizona media since that time. In her spare time, Teri volunteers with the local nonprofit Esperança and with Phoenix Healthy Start. She is serving her fourth term as chapter president and has been on the chapter board for eight years. Email Teri at teri@phoenixspj.org.

Mark J. Scarp, Immediate Past President
Mark J. Scarp is a faculty associate (adjunct professor) of journalism at Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication, and is membership director for the Society of American Business Editors and Writers (SABEW). A journalist for 24 years, he has held various positions at the East Valley Tribune and its predecessor, the Scottsdale Progress. A member of the Valley of the Sun SPJ chapter board for 19 years, Mark has served six terms as president of the chapter. He also served from 1997 to 2003 on the SPJ national board of directors, representing Arizona, California, Hawaii and Nevada as Region 11 director. As immediate past president, Mark supervises the chapter’s efforts to put on its annual Arizona Freedom of Information Awards banquet and frequent chapter programs. He also represents the Valley of the Sun SPJ chapter on the board of directors of the First Amendment Coalition of Arizona. He served as president of that organization from 2001 to 2005. Perri Collins, Vice President-Print
Perri Collins joined the staff of the Arizona Newspapers Association in fall 2006, after over 10 years as an entrepreneur, writer and web designer. In addition to bringing her industry and academic experience to every project she tackles, she brings her extensive experience in technology and information as Communications Manager for ANA.  Collins graduated from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism.   Collins is a member of the Arizona First Amendment Coalition and AZ Women in Media. She has volunteered for the Investigative Reporters and Editors, KAET-TV, Boys and Girls Clubs of America, the City of Tempe and the Salvation Army. Kelly Madison, Vice President-Broadcast
Kelly L. Madison is the Morning Edition Producer for 91.5 FM, KJZZ News in Phoenix. She graduated with a bachelor’s in Journalism from the University of North Dakota and has her Masters from the University of Phoenix in Education Technology. She moved to the Valley in June 1995. She also is Adjunct Faculty for Rio Salado College and the current president of the Meningitis Foundation of America. Email Kelly at kmadison@rioradio.org.

Debra Utacia Krol, Secretary
Debra Utacia Krol is an enrolled member of the Xolon [or Jolon] Salinan Tribe from central California. Debra is a marketing communications manager at the Heard Museum in Phoenix. She is the editor of Voices Heard: Journal of the Heard Museum and Earth Song, the Heard’s member newsletter. Debra also freelances for a variety of outlets, covering American Indian issues, travel and Arizona policy issues. Paul J. Buser, Treasurer
Paul relocated to Scottsdale from Cleveland 12 years ago. While in Cleveland, he served as board member (and pro bono legal counsel) for the Cleveland SPJ chapter. In Scottsdale he opened his independent law practice, and also initiated the first-time development of an online magazine, “The Arizona Business Lawyer,” for the Business Law Section of the Arizona State Bar Association. He has served as editor-in-chief for the past eight years. Prior to moving to Arizona he also served on the editorial boards of three national legal magazines: The American Bar Association Family Advocate, the American Bar Association Family Law Quarterly, and the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers AAML Journal. Tiffany Di Giacinto, Chapter Communications
Tiffany Di Giacinto has approximately 10 years experience writing and editing for professional and collegiate organizations. Tiffany earned a bachelor’s degree in print journalism and a minor in Spanish in 2002 and a Masters of Mass Communication in 2004, both from Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Her articles have appeared in the Arizona Republic, The Peoria Times, The Glendale Star, Phoenix Magazine, the East Valley Tribune, West Valley Magazine, The Daily-News Sun and Peoria Today (formerly Northwest Valley News).
